Hurt At Work? Do These 3 Things First

When people call our office who have been injured at work, they often have already made several mistakes that could negatively effect their workers compensation claim.  Follow the three easy steps below to make sure your potential workers compensation claim gets off on the right foot.

1. Report the injury to your supervisor or boss. This can be done verbally or through a written accident report. If you fill out a written accident report, make sure you indicate exactly how you were injured.  If someone else fills out the written accident report, make sure it is accurate before you sign off on it.

2. Make sure you tell the doctor exactly how you were injured. In other words, make sure you tell the doctor the injury happened at work. If you're asked to fill out intake forms, make sure you indicate the injury happened at work.

3. Contact an experienced workers compensation attorney. Don't wait.  Having an experienced workers compensation attorney to help you navigate your claim is invaluable.

If you follow the three easy steps above, your attorney should be able to take it from there and help guide you through the rest of your claim.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
